4 4 0 There were four people in the first class, four in the second, and none in the third(F1*) class. Tonight we had the pleasure of tasting some Turkish Delight, which is a well known confectionary product from Turkey. This started a whole discussion about different kinds of confectionary products and 'goodies'. We talked a little about expressions used to describe weather conditions. We talked about various hand-crafts such as crocheting, knitting, etc. Ms. K. used to do bead-work when she was younger, but no longer has the time (or inclination), and Ms. A. was taught 'dress-making' by her mother, and often makes her own clothes. I talked about my weakness in 'pattern-making', which causes me endless frustration, when I'm making clothes, which has been a 'life-long' hobby of mine. We talked about a few other topics, but each, only for brief periods of time, and now I can't recall them! Some words and phrases we looked at tonight were...Turkish Delight, Nougar, Nougat, nugget, crochet, carpentry, 'paper pattern making', 'time-consuming' , elusive, "it eludes me", to 'have the knack' of doing something, "it's raining cats and dogs!", "they fight like cats and dogs", "It's only spitting!"= (informal British expression to describe a very light rain). Thank you for attending my classes tonight. Hope to see you all again, soon! Rita.
