4 4 There were four people present for both the first, and second class this evening. We talked about 'Golden week' plans. We talked a lot about food, different 'tastes', and cooking techniques, (particularly Japanese dishes). This started a conversation about the Japanese word 'umami', which is used to describe a taste (or flavor), which is very subtle. The word, or 'sense' is unique to Japan, and I'm not aware of an equivelant word, in English. There may be one, but I can't think what it would be?? This topic continued for quite some time, and made us all feel very hungry!Mr.O. will be trying the TOEIC test soon, and he's been studying about 'relative clauses', so we spent some time discussing this particular grammatical, sentence structure. Some words and phrases we looked at tonight were...subtle, relative clauses, 'five o'clock shadow', 'five o'clock tea', 'five o'clock rush', 'five o'clock surprise', "the calendar dictates, that it's a working day", "it's business as usual", to 'get their pound of flesh'. We laughed a lot tonight, and it was fun. Thank you all for coming, particularly as today was a holiday for most of you! If you have time tomorrow, be sure to check-out our Ustream class broadcasting 'live', from 12~2pm. You are welcome to type comments, or ask questions, and it seems you don't have to be 'logged-in' to do so, so... feel free! See ya, Rita!
