3 3 Three people came for both my classes tonight. One young man, I met for the first time, is studying civil engineering, at Kyoto University. He attended a job-hunting seminar in Osaka today, and we talked about a kind of workshop, that he participated in during the seminar. In the workshop, he had to take part in 'planning' the re-development of a town area. We also talked (hypothetically), about being transferred overseas, and which countries might be scary (or undesirable) to live and work in..eg. Iraq, Iran or Afganistan. We talked about the things Japan (and Scotland) are famous for, Zen meditation, marshal arts, sports, and we also discussed the unfairness of how women are treated, in some middle-eastern countries. Some new expressions, and vocabulary for today...peer pressure, a practice run, to 'pig-out' (pigged-out), binge, guttural, sacriligeous, posthumous, awareness, suffragettes, kilts, tartan, and loch (Scottish for lake). One student taught us the abbreviation NLG = natural liquid gas (I didn't know this!) A very interesting evening all round! Thank you all for attending..see you next time! Rita.
