Wow, after a long dry period, we had a lot of rain last night. Not only that, it is unseasonably warm today!

Today we started by looking at the word "commit". It can be applied in the best and worst situations. Here are some common uses:

commit murder, commit suicide, commit a crime, commit to marriage, commit to a plan.

We looked at the difference between "chime-in" and "butt-in".

In the second half of the class we focused on dialects of English in different countries. Have you ever heard of Cockney slang? It is spoken in parts of London. They substitute words for other words that rhyme. For example, "King Lear" = "beer", "apples and pears" = "stairs", and "dog and bone" = "telephone". Difficult! (`・_・’)
